The Salt River Watershed Watch is a group of citizens who monitor streams, rivers, and springs in the Salt River Watershed and Minor Tributaries of the Ohio River.

River City Paddlesports works to expand community access to all paddle sports in the Greater Louisville area through education, outreach, and competition.

The event will run from 3-8pm and have two components:

From 3 to 6 PM - Guided paddle on the Lower Reaches of Beargrass Creek: Meet at the Louisville Community Boathouse (1321 River Road, Louisville) at 3 PM for orientation. The tour will leave from nearby docks at 3:30 PM. Reserve your seat in a 12-person voyageur canoe, or bring your own canoe or kayak (Independent Paddlers MUST register for event at checkout). Experienced guides will lead participants through Beargrass Creek's history to the present day using an interpretive guide developed for this event and demonstrate water quality testing along the way. Tickets required! Please note: The paddle will go forward rain or shine, With Thunderstorms or active Combined Sewer Overflows we will cancel the paddle and walk along the creek - No Refunds.

Register early as there are only 44 seats, 11 paddlers per voyageur canoe!

*Paddling not your thing? No worries- we will also offer a guided walk from 4-6pm along Butchertown Greenway, walking by the Botanical Gardens to the MSD Beargrass Pump Station then by the Brownstones of Story Ave and back to the Waterfront via lower Frankfort Ave. There will be interpretative stations along the walk. No registration necessary, we are asking for voluntary $10 to $20 donations.

From 6 to 8 PM - 50th Anniversary of Earth Day Celebration and Beargrass Creek Teach-In: A public reception and teach-in for our Creek will be held at the Community Boat House to celebrate the creek and learn about how we all can participate in monitoring the streams of the Salt River Watershed. Come and join us with Environmental Organizations tabling, food trucks, music by John Gage and others all celebrating 50 years of environmental awareness and citizen science.  No registration necessary, we are asking for voluntary $10 to $20 donations.
